We spent another day out east to Taunton Benchmark on Saddle Mountains near Othello, Washington.

This morning, it took three tries to settle on a hike. Then it was back to Plain to explore Bee Sting Hill.
Saddle Mountain sat directly north of Dow Mountain, where we visited two months ago.
Yesterday’s late trip didn’t leave much time to explore. So today, we started early on Beaver Hill.
The last-minute plan to Whiskey Dick Wildlife Area put us on the trail at 2 PM. A super late start!
After a visit to the San Juan Islands, we went east to Steamboat Rock, hoping for the afternoon sunshine.
Puget Sound had a lower chance of rainfall. So we made Mount Pickett our rainy day destination.
In addition to the main summit, we added Long View Peak and Clay Pit Peak to get in some exercise.
We followed the better weather up to Cama Beach Historical State Park and Camano Island State Park.
The overnight snowstorms caused many spin-outs over Snoqualmie Pass. So we stayed put on this side.
It was equally rainy in the western state. So naturally, we headed east in search of the sun.
Due to high rainfall, this year, we weren’t able to welcome the new year on top of a mountain.
