Woods Creek Road to Lake Roesiger
It was our first time hiking between Highway 2 and Mount Pilchuck. I’d dropped the dogs at boarding by Three Lakes many times before. But I didn’t realize there were hiking places here like Roesiger Mountain.
I thought we’d beat the mid-morning rainy weather by starting at sunrise. But the forecast changed at some point, and it was now at an 80% chance of rainfall. At least it was something quick to reduce our time in the rain.

Another Day in Another Logging Area
The drive took us through Woods Creek before passing the Lake Roesiger community. Soon, we reached the DNR gate without a good place to park. So I squeezed the car to the far end to avoid blocking the entrance.
It was under two miles to reach the summit, now among the new vegetation. The number of large trees over the road and the berms looked like an effort to keep out motorized vehicles. Soon, the road ended at the high point.

Roesiger Mountain Summit Plus Exit
The old satellite image showed an open field on top despite the dense second growth. We took a side trail west from the summit, hoping to see the lake. But we soon turned around as it dipped toward the neighborhood.
We sought another road for views before moseying back to the gate. It rained the whole time, but it stopped for five minutes on the way down. Otherwise, it was another typical winter day in the Pacific Northwest.
