More rain this weekend, and South Cascades looked to be the place to be for a rain-free hike. The trail was clear of snow until somewhere between 4,500’ and 5,000’ elevation. We hiked Norse two summers ago when there was still some snow left, so route finding wasn’t much of a problem.
The weather was decent with clouds rolled in and out of the area. Crystal Mountain Resort was visible for a few seconds at a time with clouds hovering over the area.
By the time we got to the ridge, it became windy and colder. The snow must have waited for us to arrive at the summit before it started to come down. The wind showed no sign of calming down, so we quickly took a few photos and went on our merry way down the mountain.
