With avalanche warnings throughout the Cascades, I had a hard time deciding on a hike for a day that was supposedly going to be partly sunny but turned out to be snowy. I narrowed my options down to Welldigger’s Ass and Tye Peak, picked the latter since it’s closer, across Highway 2 from Stevens Pass Ski Resort. The snow started to fall before we reached the resort. We were hoping to make it all the way to Tye Peak, but the snow in the meadow leading up to the ridge from the meadow was waist deep. When we were at a point where the snowshoes didn’t help a bit to get me out of the snow, it was definitely time to turn around.
