Our fourth time in the area, and this time actually made it to the trailhead an hour earlier than two previous times.
Mostly sunny afternoon with low clouds in the horizon. The pups and I aimed for Point 2901 directly north of the parking pullout
on the long running ridge of Whiskey Dick Mountain. It’s also the highest point just east of the last group of wind turbines on that ridge.
We started to hike north and followed a hikers path down to Rocky Coulee, then made our way up to the saddle at 2700′. Then we followed the road on the south side of the long running fence and
headed east toward our destination. The road bypassed the high point on its south, so a short scramble was needed to get to the top.
It was about 45 minutes before
sunset
when we arrived at the top, but we didn’t spend a whole lot of time on top as it became increasingly windy. Only a tiny portion of Columbia River was visible from where we were, but both Frenchman and Potholes Coulees were in clear view.
