I can probably count on one hand the number of people I’ve run into on this mountain, all of whom were from our first trip in summer of 2010.
Steepest part of the hike was in the lower elevation, and once we got past all the switchbacks then terrain started to taper off. We made good time getting to Rock Lake and to Nason Ridge Trail junction just north of Rock Mountain’s south peak. Summer trail was mostly visible so we didn’t do a whole lot of scrambling.
Views were spectacular as always, lots of recognizable peaks everywhere I looked. We left the summit before sundown, and made it back to the just after dark.
