Overnight the Central Cascades weather forecast went from mostly sunny to mostly cloudy.
The trip gave us the rare opportunity to visit the area and to drive Mount Baker Highway nearly to its eastern terminus.
By climbing Colfax Peak and Sherman Peak early in the season, we made use of snow over the cruxes.
Excelsior Peak was a perfect excuse to come back and explore the area five years later.

Church Mountain Lookout was our stopping point. I couldn't find much info on the actual summit before the trip. But I knew that with two dogs, it wouldn't be wise…
