Eastern Washington is the portion of the US state of Washington east of the Cascade Range. I had originally planned to include this high point when pups and I went out to Breezley Hills a few weeks back.
Near 100% chance precipitation this weekend throughout most of the state, so we resorted to Eastern Washington for lighter rain.
Rainy season plus the unpredictable mountain weather make winter the best time to visit Eastern Washington.
This weekend Puget Sound area had a lower precipitation rate, but the near 40-mph coastal wind gusts had us once again resort to other side of the Cascades.
I must have refreshed the weather app a thousand times looking for a rain shadow in bed this morning.
Parking lot had only two cars parked on a sheet of ice when we arrived in late morning.
The area had more snow when we last visited two Decembers ago. Temperature reading of 17°F at the start of the hike, felt much colder than being in higher elevations in the mountains.
