All photos from this trip can be found here.

Two years ago I went on a Mountaineers trip to climb this mountain. There was still a lot of snow in June past Kendall Katwalk, and the group wasn’t moving as fast as everyone had hoped. We got as far as Bumblebee Pass and called it. After waiting a couple of summers I finally got the opportunity to go revisit the mountain.

PCT wasn’t as busy as I had thought, but I did run into three or four through hiking groups on the way to Kendall Katwalk. WhenI was here three months ago checking out snow conditions, Katwalk was still impassible.

Standard rock climbing route is the west ridge, I opted for east ridge since I went solo. East ridge was more or less a scramble, with a 4th class chimney finish just below the summit. It felt good to finally stand on top and seeing familiar places all around. An awesome vantage point to see Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley and the Stone Kingdom.

I’d like to come back and try the west ridge with a partner at some point.
