Devils Lake State Park

Attended cousin’s wedding in Elgin, Illinois, not a place to seek out hikes with satisfying elevation gain. After doing some research, Devils Lake State Park looked to be the most ideal albeit 150+ miles away. Alas, the extra mile we go to get a hike in.

There were lots of people here, even more than I anticipated. Since there aren’t many places like this in the area to go to, naturally it becomes most people’s first choice. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail took me through the state park and around the beautiful Devils Lake.

On the way back, I took a couple different junctions to make walking in the woods a little more interesting.
