In Summary
Boy, it was a hot day! Only a few places in the lower elevations had intermittent streams for us to get water. But both pups ended up drinking right out of my hydration pack.
Getting to the trailhead from the north isn’t usually possible in the wintertime. WSDOT shuts down a section of Highway 410 then. Another option would be the long drive through Yakima and then backtrack on the said highway. This area would make an excellent snowshoe destination.
Summit Views
The views up on top were amazing. I was able to see the Nelson Ridge area, Mount Adams, Goat Rocks Wilderness, and Mount Rainier. It’s even possible to see the Stuart Range when the sky is clear.
